What is this medication?

Nexium 40 mg is a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient esomeprazole. It is used to treat conditions such as:

    Nexium 24HR is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) for adults (aged 18 years and older) with mild to moderate reflux (heartburn and acid regurgitation). Nexium 24HR should be used with caution in elderly patients (ie, those with renal impairment).

    Before taking Nexium 24HR, tell your doctor about any known allergies (such as food or drink) or medical conditions (such as heartburn, acid reflux, acid otitis). Ask your doctor about any other medicines you are taking. Nexium 24HR may interact with other medicines (such as nitroimidazole), food, and certain vitamins (such as selenium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium). Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about your medical history, especially of seizures, problems with acid reflux, heartburn, heartburn with indigestion, and acid regurgitation/acidosis.
